Los Angeles has
some of the toughest air pollution laws in the nation. These laws are
demanding constant changes in the treatments and coatings that our
refinish industry uses. Los Angeles and the surrounding area are governed
by the South Coast Air Quality Control Management District. The
SCAQMD regulates Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions through the
enforcement of Rule 1151.
DuPont and Los
Angeles Trade-Technical College have established a partnership to train
Refinish Technicians in the use of compliant products regulated under Rule
1151. The DuPont Automotive Finishes Team provides us with the very best
products and training along with the best service in the Autobody
Industry.
The training is administered
over a 32 week period. During this time students will acquire knowledge of
and apply compliant coatings provided by DuPont.
The following
criteria has been established for students to receive the DuPont
Certificate of Completion for Rule 1151. Advanced students must pass a
series of written tests and a final exam. A score of at least 85% must be
achieved for the final exam. In addition students must properly apply each
compliant coating. A checklist will be used to track application. The
following list contains the materials applied for the 2008 training
program. DuPont Material List.
